Continental Run 2 Stop: Day 4 – Bloem
I left you last on my bed in Bloem, we’re picking up again from my bed in Christiana – a tiny town situated on the Vaal, somewhere off the R708, which is somewhere off another road you probably never knew existed. The drive in was absolutely incredible. I’ve never been on a smaller transport road in SA. There were spans of nothing, then patches where roadside bushes had stretched right into the road, and it was littered with potholes – one of the cyclists almost took a tumble and punctured a tyre after disappearing into one.
We started the morning at Batho primary school in Bleom. The Bleomfontein Celtics joined the Continental Run 2 Stop athletes in a soccer clinic, dance-off (during which Simon Cowell would have fainted), and packing food for Stop Hunger Now. Today’s packing challenge brings the total amount of meal packs to 5 616 – just four days in. We then it the bumpy road to Christiana, where the athletes faces slightly wind conditions and temperatures up to 30 degrees. Here are the highlights.
We’re at an amazing Protea Hotel now. Situated on the Vaal and a massive expanse of lush green lawn. There are swimming pools (plural), a put-put course, camping facilities, a spa, kids entertainment, etc. I can only imagine this place over the summer school holidays. It must be mental. Unfortunately we leave it tomorrow morning at 6am. We’re off to Klerksdorp, and hopefully some more awesome.
Nash…
Out.

Love the soundtrack.
