The Weekend According to my Stomach

The Weekend According to my Stomach

I put a substantial amount of food inside of me this weekend. I’ve been doing this a lot recently, eating my way through my off days. There’s an emotional side to it, like a man on death row getting in what he can before the executioner pulls the lever on the weekend and he falls through the trap door into Monday.

So here are a few things to put in your face. Some new, some not, all good.

Eat Here: Great Eastern Food Bar. Melville

I thought I was ready to tell you about the most amazing Joburg ramen experience after my first visit to Great Eastern Food Bar, above Service Station in Melville, procrastination got the better of me once again though, and I found myself back there before I got around to posting about it, which is fortunate because my second experience was far from enjoyable. KFC And The Temple of Shattered Dreams: A Southern Suburb Boys Tale

This is the story of a broken hearted boy. A boy who once enjoyed a care-free existence in the leafy southern suburbs of Cape Town. He lived a simple, happy life. He also ate Double Crunch burgers from KFC whenever the fuck he wanted.

You may not have had baklava, in which case you should Google ‘closest baklava’ right now. If you’ve had both of those things, you can understand why I’m so turned on by the idea of a baklava milkshake. It may kill me, but I have to have one now. Besides that, Action Bronson checks out Kew Garden’s legendary pizza parlor, Dani’s House of Pizza, gets some Korean fried chicken, and a hand tattoo.

How to make the Donut Bacon Burger, and the perfect Smoked BBQ Chicken. With Red’s True BBQ and River Island

Heeding societies collective call of ‘more barbecue!’, and unable to get what they wanted in the UK, two Brits – James and Scott, started Red’s True Barbecue – an American barbecue offering in the UK. For Poms, these dudes seem to know a lot about the American barbecue. So much so that, in celebration of their summer, fashion giant River Island got the two together to show their audience how to make the perfect smoked BBQ chicken, and I hope you’re sitting right now, the Donut Burger – which includes bacon, obviously.
