A Collection of Ads From The Late 80’s & 90’s Featuring Todays Top Actors

MSG loaded cereals and fast-food brands like McDonalds and Burger King aren’t just responsible for childhood obesity and the onset of Type 2 Diabetes, during the late 80’s and early 90’s they singlehandedly kept the then fledgling careers of todays top actors alive. When I was in grade 3 I went to a breakfast cereal commercial casting – for All Bran Flakes. I got to leave school early which was quite rad, but other than that, it was one of my worst experiences ever, and I still had my parents paying the bills and zero aspirations of a career in acting. It’s gotta be tough wanting to be taken seriously but asked to audition with your shirt off – like Brad Pitt for Pringles. We all have to start somewhere though, and this lovely collection of colourful and loud ads from our childhood prove that statement true.

Col’Cacchio Retro Tuesday: Tree Houses

Col’Cacchio Retro Tuesday: Tree Houses

As a kid, pretending you’re something or somewhere isn’t quite enough, you need to build it, or dress up, or use tiny scale models to really get your mind going. It works too. Next time you’re fantasising about walking into your office with a shotgun and pumping a pound of birdshot into your bosses chest, grab a ruler and use it as a pretend shotgun, works so much better. It was my favourite for years. Now I have it on my phone. Which means I’ll have it to keep me busy during traveling time this festive season. Check it out.

Retreo Tuesday: Duck Hunt

Retreo Tuesday: Duck Hunt

At this time of year I find it hard pick and item from a menu the size of a business card, let alone function in the work place, in any capacity. I’m pretty sure you’re in the same boat, 2012 has been a big one. So I’m going to help you out. Remember when life was easy? When your only homework for the day was colouring in a picture. Then all you had was time. You could swim all afternoon then play Nintendo all evening. I’m going to take you back to that time. To a time when you shot ducks as they flew out of the grass. That’s right, I give you Duck Hunt.

Col’Cacchio Retro Tuesday: Bump 6

Col’Cacchio Retro Tuesday: Bump 6

This will be the last of our little Bump memorial sessions. We had fun with Bump 2, stepped things up a lot with Bump 3, cooled down with Bump 5, which brings us to the last of the old school, Bump 6. Released in the heyday of my vintages battle against the Titans of Puberty; Spots, Breaking Voices, Girls, Braces, Girls, and Awkwardness, it was basically one of the soundtracks to a time of my life best left packed away in my old tog bag, which I think is in the garage rafters of a house my folks no longer live in, which suits me just fine.
