Our Weekend in Mykonos With Olmeca Tequila. A Gallery by Paul Ward.

Our Weekend in Mykonos With Olmeca Tequila. A Gallery by Paul Ward.

I have, since arriving back on South African soil yesterday, been trying to put my story of this past weekend in Mykonos with Olmeca Tequila together – one of the largest I’ve had in a long time. Between treating my physical injuries, battling to get my replacement phone up and running, and trying to get my brain to spit out anything slightly sensical, I’ve realised that this is going to have to wait a day. Fortunately Paul Ward, who was along for the trip, has already sent us his shots from the weekend. I must warn you though, if you’re not comfortable with a bit of male nudity, specifically the nude bodies of Andrew Berry and I, do not continue. Last year in Ibiza we, as the collective South African group, found out a few things about each other. This year in Mykonos, we found out that we all have a little college frat boy is us. Nothing like a little shirtless male bonding in the club.

Kevin Russ – A Traveling Photographer

Kevin Russ – A Traveling Photographer

This isn’t what you think it is. It’s a little weird. A reflection on the ever changing landscapes of sharing. Not weird in a bad way, weird as in, there are parts where this could almost be one of those predictable parodies on hipsters and their iPhones, except it’s not. It’s an example of how powerful a tool an iPhone (our the smart devices at our disposal) can be, what you can do if you just go out there and do it, and how lives are being shaped by the social sharing options now available to us. Kevin Russ has been traveling western America for the better part of a year, often living in his car. Here’s his story, and some incredible images.

Want something to add to your bucket list? How about adding this, a 4500km bike adventure with your old man, or son, for those of you awesome ballies reading this. Ladies, I’m obviously not excluding you, it’s just that I’m a son, and I could be a pops one day. Anyway, do this with a parent, or a child. I’d love nothing more than to go on a one on one adventure with my old man, both of them.

Holland. The Original Cool

Holland. The Original Cool

As far as tourism marketing goes, this is the best clip I have seen in ages. I really enjoyed our ‘You don’t need a holiday, you need Cape Town’ angle we went with recently(ish), but this takes it for me. The whole attitude and delivery is superb. It’s like we (Cape Town) just got beaten at our own game, being better than anyone else, and knowing it. Nicely done, Holland.

The Modern Motorcycle Diaries

The Modern Motorcycle Diaries

As far as road trips go, this one is ridiculously huge, and amazing. Alaska to Argentina in 500 Days. That’s what a chap by the name of Alex Chacon did, as he attempted to continue the famous motorcycle diaries of the one and only Ernesto Che Guevara. The video is pretty long, but there are some incredible shots, and mind blowing ‘roads’ and tracks that this dude navigates. Warning, it may make you think about escape.
