and it’s all starting to sound familiar.
Just the other day we had a look at Zapiro’s cartoon that just so happened to feature Malema. Now our guy has delivered another one of his great speeches. In summary: "Whatever the judgement... come 2009, Zuma will be president," said Malema, referring to the Pietermaritzburg High Court ruling expected on Friday on whether Zuma's corruption charges should be scrapped. "Any force on our way we will eliminate. We are on a mission here. We will crush you. It doesn't matter who you are, even if you are in the ANC." Full story here. Now I’m the first to look for the good in anything, but I’ll be damned if I can find it in the above. There are many who currently live in SA and preach of the fall of the country due to our government and blah, blah, blah. I would normally argue strongly against this sort of thinking. Lately, however, y side of the argument is losing credibility quickly. Literally within the last few months we (South Africa) have started ticking a lot of boxes in the “Typical 3rd World African Country” category. Mostly thanks to Zuma and his posse. The above comments do sound very similar. Where have we heard that sort of thing before? “It may be necessary to use methods other than constitutional ones.” “We are no longer going to ask for the land, but we are going to take it without negotiating.” Now who could have said that? Ah yes, Mugabe. You know, the fucking psychopath currently running Zimbabwe, our neighbor. I can see Malema using these two in his next speech. The first quote as is, the second one might need a little work, not much though. How about: “We are no longer going to ask for your vote, but we are going to take it without negotiating” Yup, that works quite nicely. Rolls off the tongue.
