‘Charlie Goes to Burning Man’ – A Short Documentary About an 81-Year-Old’s First Experience at Burning Man
At the age of 81, and recovering from bone marrow cancer and major open-heart surgery, Charlie, a media professor, decided to go to Burning Man, one of the hardest (if not hardest) festivals in the world. This is a short documentary on his experience, as well as a look at this insane festival. Overall I enjoyed this short, especially Charlie’s comments on his experience, but once again I’m reminded of the worst things about festivals like Burning Man and Afrikaburn, the people that attend. I’ve loved both my Afrikaburn experiences, immensely, and in some ways more than anything else I’ve done under the festival banner, but the majority of the people captured in the scenery footage and their general vibe in front of the camera, are the very reason I’ll have to think hard about going again.
