Derek Jeter recently announced his retirement from Major League Baseball and the New York Yankees after 20 seasons. It’s a pretty big deal in the world of baseball, and especially for the Yankees and their fans. The franchise drafted him right out of high school, so it’s no wonder he is their all-time career leader in hits, games played (an astonishing 2738), stolen bases, and at bats. More than that though, he has been a firm fan favourite, something Gatorade played into perfectly for their latest ad, and farewell to the Yankee legend. In July this year they roped off a few blocks leading to the stadium and filmed Jeter as he made his way to the game, capturing his interaction with his fans. The result is something quite spectacular. You don’t need to follow baseball, or even know who Jeter is to feel the emotion in this one.
