I’m A Photographer Now
Look, I know we’ve joked about this before, with me saying I’m a photographer because I got an iPhone and tricked it out with all sorts of apps that make my instagrams better than a ginger bearded craft baker with a tattoo of a crochet needle on his arm and a fisherman’s beanie on his head, but I’m being serious now. I have a real camera. One that can’t call people or fit into my pocket. Ok, I have it for two weeks (just over a week left actually), but it will be mine.
You see mycamera have given me and five other bluurgers a very sexy Olympus Pen each. We’ve been tasked with capturing three words; “Joy” “Curiosity” and “Alone”. I know, very arty. The pics can’t be edited, which I think is great, and we have until the 7th of November to get the money shots. We then get judged and the winning blogger gets to keep their camera – which I’m really gunning for as I’ve been away since I got mine which means I haven’t been able to test it out in the bedroom, and we all know a camera is only as good as it’s ability to capture home pics in bad light.
I thought about posting a few pictures from the road, but let’s be honest, why would I show the competition my gold, it’ll only inspire them to get out there and get more shots and we wouldn’t want that would we. No we wouldn’t want that at all. Winning this would mean that I could actually take pics of all the adventures I am going on, or plan to go on. Thighland in just over a month, Put Foot, who knows where else. Not to mention that home movie I was talking about earlier.
I’m not going to lie though, it’s been quite tricky, learning how an actual camera works. I’ve only ever had a point-and-click or a cell cam. Now I’m messing with shutter speed, aperture and image settings. It’s been tricky but awesome. If you don’t know your way around a camera and you live in Cape Town what can you really say about yourself. Sure you may eat at The Kitchen, take coffee out of a hole in the wall, or meet at Field Office, but if you can’t cruise around town taking pictures of weird things with a camera that actually has a sticky out lens no one is going to take you seriously.
I may select non winning themed pics and post them later this week. To give you an idea of how rad this Olympus Pen is.
Nash…
Out.

“Camera that actually has a sticky out lens” – I LOL hard!
I hope you’re taking more pictures than an Asian on Safari!
Good luck! I hope you get to keep the camera!
