Hey Fool
Col’Cacchio Retro Tuesday: Bob Saget
That’s right, I could have chosen Full House or America’s Funniest Home Videos, but Bob Saget deserves his own feature. Seriously, what would our childhoods have been without Full House or AFHV? I haven’t been through a magazine pile in a dentists waiting room in a while, so I couldn’t check a TV guide from the late 80′s, but I’m pretty sure the shows were aired during Open Time – the most magic time of our youth. Bob lead all those shows, as a the dad and host, and he did it all while performing as one of the dirtiest stand-ups in the industry – the part of his life us kids never knew about, because there was no such thing as YouTube. How did Bob come about as todays theme? Well, we partied with him at the Ard Matthews charity gig last week.

Bob was hosting FAIL compilations before I even knew what a keyboard was, and how we all loved to watch them! Take a look at this – no need to watch the entire thing, just promise me you’ll listen to the intro.
I know! Imagine how much of a larger audience they would have reached if they’d included the Russian and Japanese fails. They would have had to have a Sunday omnibus just so we could all catch up. And how’s the delivery!? Audiences were exceptionally easy to please back in the day. I wish I was a blogger then. I could have served up the joke emails that circulate once a year but that have been going around for five and you would have been loooling all over the jol.
Talking about cheese, let’s get into Full House – the show that introduced us to John Stamos and was the launch point for the career of those now twiggy twins and the very reason they have nothing better to do now than be rich and spend their syndication money.
Epic. That show ran for eight years, and had several different intros, so you my remember a different one.
And now we’ve got Bob popping up at charity events in SA, nailing some of the best cameo appearances on Entourage, and being an all round legend from a time when most of us didn’t even know how to ride a bike. Keep rocking Bob. We salute you.
Nash…
Out.

Plus he narrates How I Met Your Mother, if I’m not mistaken. He’s a legend.
